Tire Rotation
Tire rotation can be beneficial in several ways. When done at the recommended times, it can preserve balanced handling and traction of the tires and even out tire wear. It can even provide performance advantages.
When should tires be rotated?
We recommend rotating your vehicles tires every 6,000 to 8,000 miles to maintain proper wear and performance. Tire rotation does not correct wear problems due to worn mechanical parts, but frequent, regular tire rotation will help to identify these problems before they cause premature tire wear.
Normal tire rotation typically involves simply moving the tires from front-to-back on both sides. This is because a number of newer tire designs are directional (meaning they must rotate in one specific direction) so cross-rotating tires can cause a problem. Tire pressure is checked and adjusted as required during this procedure, and your brake system is inspected to verify proper operation and condition of components.
Because front-wheel drive cars (the most common cars on the road today) can cause a significant difference in tire wear between front and rear tires, it is imperative to maintain a proper tire rotation schedule so as to avoid having to replace tires in pairs (two at-a-time) rather than in sets of four. Evenly worn tires will improve handling and overall response throughout their normal life. Many tire manufacturers require proof of rotation in order to maintain any tire warranty claims, so it is further beneficial to rotate tires for this reason.
This service can often be done while we are performing other routine services (such as oil changes) to make the process simple and economical or it can be done on its own. If you purchase a set of new tires from us, we will rotate them FREE OF CHARGE for as long as they are on your car. Another reason to purchase your tires from us!
